Thakuranichak Union High School, established in 1938, is a government-sponsored Bengali medium higher secondary institution rooted in the spirit of unity and community participation.
A Legacy of Vision, Dedication, and Community
In 1938, in the heart of Thakuranichak Gram Panchayet, a group of visionary villagers dreamed of providing quality education to the children of their community. At a time when rural schooling was scarce and India was still under British rule, these pioneers came together to establish a school that would become a beacon of knowledge, perseverance, and holistic growth. The word “Union” reflects the spirit of togetherness and collective effort that brought this dream to life.
The Founders
The school’s foundation was shaped by remarkable individuals whose generosity and commitment made education possible:
Late Mahendranath Bag (Thakuranichak) – The principal visionary. He donated land and personal resources for the construction of the school building and supported the employment of the first teachers, laying a strong foundation for the school’s early functioning.
Late Rakhal Chandra Mandal (Thakuranichak) – The first Secretary of the School Managing Committee, he contributed land and resources to ensure the successful establishment of the school.
Late Kishori Bandhyopadhyay (Mainan) – Donated land and resources to support initial infrastructure and employment of teachers, ensuring smooth early operations.
Late Jugal Chandra Mandal (Purba Thakuranichak) – Later contributed additional land and resources to strengthen the school building and expand facilities.
Late Subal Chandra Mandal (Purba Thakuranichak) – Provided further land and support, improving infrastructure and learning conditions.
Late Gourhari Panja – Played a key role in mobilizing community support and ensuring the school’s successful establishment.
Thanks to their dedication and sacrifices, Thakuranichak Union High School received official affiliation from the State Education Department in 1947, laying the foundation for decades of educational development.
Growth and Evolution
Over the years, the school has grown steadily, while staying true to the founders’ vision of inclusive, value-based, and holistic education. From a modest village initiative, it has developed into a respected institution that has nurtured generations of students, many of whom have excelled in academics and other fields.
The journey of the school reflects the enduring spirit of the community, the foresight of its founders, and the commitment of generations of dedicated teachers. The institution stands today as a living legacy, continuing to inspire young minds, nurture talent, and prepare students for a bright and responsible future.

Message From H.M

Dear Students, Parents, Teachers, and Well-wishers,
With a profound sense of pride and heartfelt gratitude, I extend my warmest greetings to you all. Established in 1938, during a time when our nation was still under British rule, Thakuranichak Union High School was born out of the vision and quiet determination of a few ordinary villagers who, despite limited means and countless challenges, held on to an extraordinary dream of education and a brighter future for their children. The word “Union” in its name reflects the spirit of togetherness and collective effort with which the people of the area came forward, united by hope and purpose, to build this institution from the ground up. Their simple yet powerful aspiration laid the foundation of this school, which has since stood as a quiet yet enduring beacon of learning, nurturing dreams and shaping lives across generations.
In that enduring spirit, our school continues to flourish in its serene rural setting, a place where every child is seen, heard, and cherished. For many students, stepping into school is far more than a daily routine—it is a gateway to possibilities previously unimagined. Behind each child lies a unique story, a quiet struggle, and a glimmer of hope, and it is our solemn endeavour to honor each one with patience, understanding, and unwavering care.
It is this guiding belief that shapes our approach to education. As a government- sponsored Bengali medium school, we strive to make learning not only accessible but also inspiring and meaningful. For students who face challenges, we offer gentle, persistent guidance through initiatives like the Vidyasagar Kaksha, ensuring that every child feels supported and encouraged to grow with confidence. In addition, the school takes special pride in providing structured guidance and coaching for competitive examinations such as WBJEE, JEE, NEET, and AIEEE, empowering students to pursue higher education in premier institutions and turn their aspirations into reality.
As our students gradually gain strength and self-assurance, new horizons gently unfold before them. Our smart classrooms and well-equipped laboratories—including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, and Music laboratories—transform lessons into engaging, hands-on experiences. The ICT laboratory further opens doors to the digital world, enabling students to explore, learn, and grow with confidence in a changing world. Alongside this, the gym encourages physical fitness and discipline, while the canteen offers a warm and friendly space where students can relax and share moments with their peers. Meanwhile, our rich and varied library quietly sparks curiosity, inviting students to explore beyond the confines of textbooks and discover the boundless joy of learning.
In this ongoing journey of growth, the true measure of our success is seen not merely in consistently good board results, but in the blossoming of character, the quiet confidence with which students carry themselves, and their willingness to persevere through challenges. Cultural and co-curricular activities provide them with avenues to express their talents, understand their strengths, and embrace their individuality.
At the heart of all this are our teachers, whose unwavering dedication, empathy, and guidance become the pillars upon which our students lean. Their presence extends beyond teaching—they listen, encourage, and gently illuminate the path through moments of doubt and discovery.
When this nurturing extends to parents, it gains even greater depth and meaning. Thoughtful, open communication between home and school instills in students a
profound sense of security and belonging, helping them grow not only in knowledge but also as compassionate, responsible, and socially aware individuals.
We are deeply grateful to our parents and guardians for the trust and faith they place in us. Your unwavering support inspires our every effort and strengthens our commitment to nurture each child with dedication, sincerity, and love.
And to our dear students, as you continue this journey of learning and growth, always remember: your beginnings do not limit the heights you can achieve. With
determination, honesty, and belief in your own potential, you can rise beyond what you ever imagined. Every effort you make, every challenge you embrace, contributes to the person you are becoming.
Together, as a school community—students, parents, and teachers—we move forward with hope in our hearts, patience in our efforts, and faith in a future that reflects our dreams, our care, and our unwavering commitment to learning and growth.

With warm regards,
Dr. Utpalendu Adak
